This ruffled ribbon edged frame DIY design makes plain white frames pop and give a little extra pizzazz to the art inside. A few minutes, a photo frame, and a spool of ribbon and you will be on your way to giving your gallery wall a little ruffled flair. Because all it takes sometimes is a spool of ribbon to take something from plain to wow!
Supplies needed to make your own ruffled frame DIY design:
Begin by opening your frames and ribbon. If your frames are smooth, you may need to give them a quick sand to rough them up a bit so that the hot glue sticks. If you want to skip that step, just use fast grab tacky glue instead. Start by gluing the ribbon end to one corner of the picture frame. Then add a 2-3″ line of glue to the frame edge and pinch and fold the ribbon and press it into the glue. This will create the first pleat in the ribbon. Repeat the pleating and gluing working your way down the edge of the frame.
When you get to the corner, fold the ribbon at a 45 degree angle and glue in place. Then continue along the next frame side. Keep going until you fold and glue ribbon all around the outer edge of the picture frame. At the end, glue and cut the ribbon at the frame edge.
Repeat your ribbon frame DIY design with other colors to create a gallery wall assortment. If you want, you can even tie a bow and glue it to the bottom of the frame.
